Position: Office Assistant II for the Special Education Department
Location: Guilderland High School
Minimum Requirements: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and (2) years of clerical experience.
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. Minimally one year clerical experience required.
Job Description: The person in this position works directly for the Instructional Administrator for Secondary Special Education at Guilderland High School. The job involves coordinating the special education process for Guilderland High School, including scheduling CSE meetings and collaborating with special education teachers and related service providers. Responsibilities include managing legal deadlines, multitasking (handling calls, emails, and inquiries), and maintaining calm in challenging situations with parents. The role also includes managing calendars, handling sensitive information, tracking compliance timelines, and ensuring tasks like IEP assignments and paperwork are completed on time. The position requires proficiency in various student management systems, independent work, problem-solving, and maintaining accurate confidential files. The ideal candidate must be proficient in Google Docs, Excel, and Microsoft Word, and be able to manage substitute lists and teacher coverage.
