Position Overview The Elementary Substitute Classroom Aide supports the daily instructional and supervisory needs of the classroom in the absence of the regular aide. This role helps maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment by assisting the teacher, supporting students, and ensuring that classroom routines continue smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the classroom teacher in implementing planned lessons and instructional activities.
Provide support to individual students or small groups as directed by the teacher.
Help maintain an orderly, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
Supervise students during various parts of the school day, which may include classroom work time, transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
Monitor student behavior and reinforce school expectations using positive strategies.
Support students with organization, task completion, and engagement in learning activities.
Assist with classroom preparation such as distributing materials, organizing supplies, and helping with cleanup.
Follow established routines, guidelines, and safety protocols.
Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and students.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the functioning of the classroom or school.
