Minimum Job Requirements: A. Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least an Associate degree in Accounting, Public Administration or a closely related field and one (1) year of clerical experience in processing payroll data; OR, B. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of clerical experience in processing payroll data.
Job Description: These duties involve responsibility for overseeing the payroll processing activities to provide an efficient and accurate submission of the payroll and distribution of checks. The incumbent in this position performs a variety of clerical functions which require the use of independent judgment in the application and explanation of policies and procedures regarding calculations and deductions involving a variety of payroll matters controlled by local laws and contractual conditions. Works closely with others within and outside the department to clarify or resolve problems relating to payroll. In addition, the incumbent assists the department in formulating policies and procedures and the modification of existing payroll issues. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Business Administrator. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate employees processing payroll data.
