Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred). Valid state teaching certification with a reading or elementary education endorsement. Demonstrated knowledge of the Science of Reading and foundational literacy instruction. Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Enthusiasm for literacy and a genuine love for working with children. Commitment to collaboration and continuous learning.
Job Description:
Guilderland Elementary School is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable Elementary Reading Teacher to cover a maternity leave through the end of the school year. The successful candidate will work with K–5 students to build and strengthen their foundational literacy skills, foster a love of reading, and support their academic growth during this critical period.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted reading instruction aligned with grade-level standards and best practices in foundational literacy.
- Support students in developing phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Use data-driven instruction and assessment tools to monitor and support student progress.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and literacy coaches to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Maintain a positive, nurturing classroom environment where every child feels seen, valued, and encouraged to grow.
- Communicate effectively with families about student progress and reading strategies that can be supported at home.
Contribute to a supportive and inclusive school community.
