High School Reading Teacher

Minimum Job Requirements: 

Candidates must possess NYS certification in Literacy, 5-12 or Reading, K-12 and a Bachelor’s Degree; however, a Master’s degree or higher within the discipline is preferred. 

Job Description:

Position: English Teacher, Full-time (1.0 FTE) one-year leave of absence

Location:Guilderland High School

Start Date:September 2025 

Salary: In accordance with the Guilderland Teachers Association (GTA) contract; strong benefits package available

The Guilderland Central School District is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) high school Reading teacher for a one-year leave of absence. The leave of absence position has the potential to become a full-time tenure track probationary position. Time in the leave of absence position will count towards earning tenure.

Experience in working in a team setting with Reading Teachers and Teacher Assistants to lead small group and individualized remedial reading instruction for a diverse array of literacy needs is preferred. This includes developing Reading and Writing goals, conducting formative assessments for growth and progress monitoring, and collaborating with English, Social Studies, Special Education, and ENL teachers to support student success.

Prospective candidates must also be familiar with the Next Generation ELA Standards, the Common Core ELA Regents Exam, and data-driven standards-based measures of performance.  Experience with Wilson Language Study is beneficial.  Familiarity with the NYS Social Studies Framework and the Global and US History Regents Exams is also preferred.
