High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or higher preferred). Ability to follow directions, adapt to student needs, and maintain a patient, encouraging attitude. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
The Special Education Classroom Aide supports the instructional and behavioral needs of students with disabilities in inclusive and/or self-contained settings. This position works under the direction of certified staff to promote student growth, independence, and access to the curriculum.

Assist the teacher in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans.

Support students with academic, behavioral, social, and communication needs in small groups, one-to-one, and whole-class settings.

Facilitate student participation in classroom activities, specials, lunch, recess, and field trips.

Provide physical assistance to students as needed, which may include lifting, positioning, feeding, or toileting.

Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher or case manager.

Help prepare instructional materials, organize supplies, and maintain an orderly classroom environment.

Promote positive peer relationships, social skills, and appropriate behavior through modeling and reinforcement.

Follow all school policies, confidentiality requirements, and health/safety procedures.

Participate in team meetings and professional development as directed.

May work in a general education classroom, special education classroom, or other school settings.

Requires flexibility to support students across grade levels and programs.
