Substitute Aide/Monitors
Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, recreation, or related setting preferred. Ability to work effectively with elementary-age students with a wide range of academic, behavioral, social, and developmental needs. Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers, aides, monitors, administrators, and other school personnel. Strong communication, patience, flexibility, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and student confidentiality. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations. Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students.
The Substitute Aide/Monitor provides support and supervision to students and staff throughout the elementary school setting. The Substitute Aide/Monitor may be assigned to assist in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, arrival/dismissal areas, or other school settings. The individual in this position helps maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment and may provide assistance to individual students or small groups under the direction of school staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide appropriate supervision of students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, arrival/dismissal areas, and other assigned locations.

Assist teachers and other school staff with daily classroom and student activities as directed.

Support students with academic, behavioral, social, and organizational needs within the scope of the assignment.

Reinforce school and classroom expectations, routines, and behavior standards in a positive and consistent manner.

Assist students with transitions between classrooms and school activities.

Monitor students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, assemblies, and other school activities.

Provide individual or small-group assistance to students when requested by the classroom teacher or supervising staff member.

Assist students with materials, supplies, classroom organization, and other non-instructional tasks.

Follow student safety procedures and school protocols, including emergency and crisis procedures.

Communicate relevant student concerns or incidents promptly to the appropriate teacher, administrator, or staff member.

Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.

Establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students and staff.

Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
