Candidates must hold appropriate New York State certification in one of the following areas: School Social Worker School Counselor School Psychologist Experience working with elementary-aged students is preferred.
Altamont Elementary School & Lynnwood Elementary School
November 25, 2026 – March 5, 2027 (Anticipated)
Guilderland Central School District is seeking a qualified school mental health professional to provide services to elementary students at Altamont Elementary School and Lynnwood Elementary School during a leave of absence.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide school-based mental health and student support services designed to promote students' social-emotional well-being, school engagement, and access to learning. Responsibilities may include:
- Providing individual and small-group counseling and social-emotional support to students identified through students' IEPs and/or Section 504 Plans.
- Supporting students experiencing behavioral, emotional, social, family, or school-related challenges.
- Consulting and collaborating with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other school personnel.
- Partnering with parents and caregivers to support student needs.
- Assisting with crisis intervention, safety planning, and student reentry or transition planning when needed.
- Connecting students and families with appropriate school, community, and mental health resources.
- Collaborating with outside providers and community agencies, as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong relationship-building and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary school team, and an understanding of the social-emotional and developmental needs of elementary-aged students.
