Guilderland Central School District has an anticipated opening for the 2025-2026 school year and is now accepting applications for a full-time probationary Middle School Science Teacher at Farnsworth Middle School.  Candidates must possess a 7-12 Science certification with General Science. Multiple Science certifications preferred (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, etc.). The anticipated opening is for Grade 8 Science and Accelerated Science teaching Regents Biology.  Candidates with experience teaching Science at the middle level are preferred.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  Strong Benefits Package available. Salary in accordance with the Guilderland Teachers Association (GTA) contract

The teaching assistants will be assigned to math and science classrooms where they will support the teaching of that class. The primary responsibility is to carry out the organization of instructional materials and provide educational support for students under the direction of the classroom teacher.  To monitor and reinforce skills and concepts previously taught by the teacher in individual or small group learning situations within the educational environment and under the supervision and control of the classroom teacher.  

Additional Qualifications:

Exhibit a child-centered philosophy and a willingness to work with students.  Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Demonstration of good judgment, problem-solving skills and maintaining confidentiality.  Regular attendance, acceptance of responsibility, willingness to follow established procedures, cooperation and the ability to react appropriately to changing work conditions are normal expectations of the job.

Job Description: 

Provide comprehensive school social work services for parents, students and school staff, addressing barriers that limit a student from receiving full benefit from their educational experience.

Respond to referrals from school administration, parents, teachers, the Student Support Team, the Committee on Special Education Committee and others by providing direct services and by assisting families in accessing appropriate community resources.
