Position Overview
The Elementary Substitute Classroom Aide supports the daily instructional and supervisory needs of the classroom in the absence of the regular aide. This role helps maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment by assisting the teacher, supporting students, and ensuring that classroom routines continue smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing planned lessons and instructional activities.

  • Provide support to individual students or small groups as directed by the teacher.

  • Help maintain an orderly, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Supervise students during various parts of the school day, which may include classroom work time, transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal.

  • Monitor student behavior and reinforce school expectations using positive strategies.

  • Support students with organization, task completion, and engagement in learning activities.

  • Assist with classroom preparation such as distributing materials, organizing supplies, and helping with cleanup.

  • Follow established routines, guidelines, and safety protocols.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and students.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the functioning of the classroom or school.

Cafeteria Monitor

Hours 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Minimum Job Requirements: 

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience working with children is a plus. Ability to remain calm, patient, and firm in a busy environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to stand and move around for extended periods. Ability to lift and move light objects (e.g., trays, bins).

Position Overview:

The Cafeteria Monitor supports a safe, respectful, and orderly environment during lunch periods. This role ensures that students follow appropriate behavior expectations, assists with maintaining cleanliness and organization, and helps facilitate efficient meal service and transitions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students in the cafeteria during designated lunch times.
  • Promote and reinforce positive behavior and school expectations.
  • Assist students as needed (e.g., opening containers, finding seats, navigating the lunch line).
  • Ensure safety and orderly movement of students to and from the cafeteria.
  • Encourage good table manners and respectful interaction among students.
  • Monitor for food allergies, spills, or other safety concerns.
  • Clean tables and assist in maintaining a tidy cafeteria environment.
  • Communicate concerns or incidents to appropriate school staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

$16.00 - $17.60 hr. commensurate with experience.
