Elementary Reading Teacher - Long Term Sub

Minimum Job Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred). Valid New York Teaching Certification in Literacy B-6. 

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Reading Teacher – Long-Term Substitute to join our dynamic and collaborative team. This position will support students in developing strong literacy skills, foster a love of reading, and provide targeted instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. The ideal candidate will bring both a passion for literacy and a commitment to working closely with colleagues, students, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging, differentiated reading instruction to elementary students in both small-group and whole-class settings.

  • Implement the school’s literacy curriculum with fidelity while adapting instruction to meet the needs of individual learners.

  • Assess student progress regularly and use data to guide instruction.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure consistency and continuity in literacy instruction.

  • Create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that fosters student confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for reading.

  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for growth.

  • Participate in grade-level and school-wide team meetings, professional learning, and collaborative planning.

  • Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a classroom teacher, including maintaining records, adhering to school policies, and ensuring student safety and well-being.

$120.-$150 per day
