Job Description: This position involves responsibility for assisting in the safe and efficient operation of the District’s transportation service, under the general direction of the Director of Transportation. In addition, the duties involve the supervision of the department’s operations team, and the maintenance and repair program in the absence of the Mechanic Foreman and the occasional operation of a school bus. Supervision is exercised over the work of dispatchers, bus drivers and bus monitors on a daily basis and over the entire operation in the absence of the Director of Transportation. Other responsibilities will include: Plans, directs and manages the school district transportation system which includes public and private school transportation; Plans, develops and implements an effective bus safety program; Prepares all required New York State Education and Department of Transportation reports; Acts as liaison between school administrators and parents concerning transportation problems and issues; other duties as assigned by director.
