Minimum Job Requirements: 

Qualified candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications from Albany County Civil Service. Either: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college with an Associate's degree and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, operation of multiple passenger vehicles or dispatching of motor equipment; OR, Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, operation of a multiple passenger vehicle or dispatching of motor equipment. Additional Requirements: Qualified applicants must have (or be eligible for and willing to obtain within 18 months) NYDMV 19-A Certified Examiner and NYSED SBDI. 

Job Description:

This position involves responsibility for assisting in the safe and efficient operation of the District’s transportation service, under the general direction of the Director of Transportation. In addition, the duties involve the supervision of the department’s operations team, and the maintenance and repair program in the absence of the Mechanic Foreman and the occasional operation of a school bus. Supervision is exercised over the work of dispatchers, bus drivers and bus monitors on a daily basis and over the entire operation in the absence of the Director of Transportation. 

Other responsibilities will include: Plans, directs and manages the school district transportation system which includes public and private school transportation; Plans, develops and implements an effective bus safety program; Prepares all required New York State Education and Department of Transportation reports; Acts as liaison between school administrators and parents concerning transportation problems and issues; other duties as assigned by director. 

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Substitute Bus Monitors

Minimum Job Requirements: 

Minimum age: 19, split shift availability, reliable, with good attendance, attention to detail, have a desire to work with children. Must complete: a pre-employment background check, physical performance test and required training. 

Job Description:

As a Bus Monitor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their transportation to and from school. Assist the bus driver in maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the bus. Monitor student behavior and enforce bus rules to ensure a respectful and peaceful atmosphere. Provide support to students with special needs, including assisting with seating arrangements and securing mobility devices. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding any concerns or incidents that may arise during the bus ride. Collaborate with the bus driver to address any emergency situations or medical needs that may occur during transportation. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and behavior incidents for reporting purposes

Bus Driver Trainees

Requirements Must have a current CDL B Permit with Passenger, School Bus and Air Brakes Endorsements. Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record. Must be able to pass: NYDMV 19-A fingerprint screen DOT Drug Screen USDOT or 19-A Physical

Job Description:

The Guilderland Central School District is in need of bus drivers!


$1,250.00 sign on bonus for qualified individuals.

Paid after 45 days of service, hired to a permanent position, as a licensed school bus driver.
